Knowledge and Technology Transfer Centre of Technical University of Cluj-Napoca
The Knowledge and Technology Transfer Centre (CTTC) has as its mission to boost and to support R&D relations with the socio-economic environment (business, academia, public authorities, etc.) as well as transfer of the results obtained in research projects conducted by research structures within the Technical University of Cluj-Napoca (UTCN).
Structurally, CTTC is part of the Department for Management of Research, Development and Innovation.
Services provided by CTTC are oriented towards:
A. increasing the number of technology transfer contracts between the University and companies interested in the application of the results of the research projects;
B. marketing and promotion of R&D results through different activities, like participation to exhibitions;
C. providing knowledge and information support for spin-off and start-up companies;
D. the development of an Intellectual Property (IP) system by:
- increasing the number of industrial property rights owned by the University;
- providing information and support to the inventors, for development of professional skills in IP;
- organizing information sessions and specific trainings on IP matters and innovation.
In order to develop these services within CTTC the following activities are carried out:
R&D marketing
- Promoting IPR and representative R&D results of the UTCN research structures;
- Branding R&D results with commercial potential;
- Promoting potential collaboration between research structures from Technical University of Cluj-Napoca and companies through online and offline marketing tools;
- Planning Research & Business (R & B) matchmaking events;
- Developing technology transfer (TT) projects in partnership with business environment;
R&D project monitoring
- Monitoring R&D relations with the socio-economic environment;
- Administrative support for project management contracted with companies;
- Consultancy on contract documents, drawing up documents for costs incurred, preparation of time sheets for employees and operational issues for projects in partnership with companies;
Intellectual Property (IP)
- IP search and protection;
- Consultancy on drafting contractual clauses relating to IP issues;
- Portfolio management of industrial property rights (IPR);
- Commercialization through licensing or other forms of IPR;
- IP Training or information sessions;
Entrepreneurship
- Supporting spin-off and start-up companies in innovation, internationalization, TT and IP;
- Organizing mentoring sessions in innovation as a tool for entrepreneurship development.
The Knowledge and Technology Transfer Centre is also part of the Ambassadors network developed by European IPR Helpdesk. The European IPR Helpdesk offers free of charge, first-line support on IP and IPR matters to beneficiaries of EU funded research projects and EU SMEs involved in transnational partnership agreements, especially within the Enterprise Europe Network (EEN).
